Bloomsburg Field Hockey Downs Kutztown; Wins 16th Straight

KUTZTOWN - The Bloomsburg University field hockey team won their 16th straight game with a 3-1 win over Kutztown on Saturday evening in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) match up at Kutztown.
The Huskies struck first with an unassisted goal by Ashley Heckard (Millerstown/Greenwood) just nine minutes into the contest. Bloomsburg's 1-0 lead held the entire half with the Huskies' Tracy Hudak (Sweet Valley/Lake Lehman) saving four shots.
After the break, Kutztown quickly knotted the score at 1-1 with a goal by Laure Belfatti just 48 seconds into the second half. However, the Huskies answered back with goals from their two leading scorers, Jamie Vanartsdalen (Huntington Valley/Lower Moreland) and Samantha Kropa (Tunkhannock /Lackawanna Trail) to give Bloomsburg the 3-1 win.
Sam Flowers made 16 saves in goal for Kutztown (10-7, 5-6 PSAC), while Hudak finished with seven stops for Bloomsburg.
With the win, the Huskies remain a perfect 16-0 (11-0 PSAC) on the season. The team is next in action on Tuesday, when they host Slippery Rock at 4:00 p.m.
